Three alfalfa stores Las Vegas Nevada in the summer of 1999 advertised a sale as Hawaiian week and sold these products as fresh Hawaiian Ahi. I am reliable informed they still sell unlabeled frozen gassed tuna and albacore as fresh Ahi.

Frozen gassed tuna is many times mixed with albacore and other lessor grades of tuna and called Ahi, fresh, sashimi grade Yellowfin, Hawaiian, and other names to appeal to the unsuspected consumer who is never told the truth. That the appearance has been altered severely and the fact is hidden that it is a lessor grade product and that long term use of carbon monoxide treated meats including fish may cause cancer, memory loss, diarrhoea, blurred vision. While the broker lines his pockets with millions of $$$
