AND THEIR SALE OF FISH TREATED WITH DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE GAS

IN JULY 2002, I HAD TALKED TO SEVERAL HOUSE WIFES IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA WHO SHOPPED AT ALBERTSONS GROCERY STORES. SOME HAD BEEN ILL AFTER EATING THEIR FRESH FISH, MAINLY TUNA. THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE FISH QUALITY, HOWEVER WHEN THEY WENT BACK TO THE STORE AND SPOKE TO THE SEAFOOD MANAGER, HE ASSUED THEM IT WAS NOT THE FISH; "JUST LOOK AT THAT NICE FRESH RED COLOR" THAT MEANS THE FRESHEST OF FRESH" HE EXPLAINED POINTING TO THE FISH. SOME OF THE WOMEN TOLD ME THEIR DOCTOR HAD SUGGESTED A FRESH FISH AND VEGETABLE DIET FOR A HEALTHY LIFE. AT LEAST ONE OF THESE WOMEN WAS CARRYING A CHILD AND HAD BEEN EATING HTE CARBON MONOXIDE GASSED STUFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. SHE HAD QUIT SMOKING AND WOULD NOT EVEN DRINK A GLASS OF WINE. THESE WOMEN HAD BEEN EATING WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS FRESH HAWAIIAN FISH BECAUSE THE STORE MANAGER TOLD THEM STORIES HOW THE BOAT CAPTAINS WOULD COME IN THE STORE SOME TIMES. THESE STORIES SOUNDED SO FALSE I HAD TO GO AND LISTEN FOR MYSELF. WHAT A LIAR, HOW DARE HE TRADE PEOPLES HEALTH FOR PROFIT? IT WAS ALL I COULD DO TO STAY QUIET AND LISTEN TO HIM. I HAD ALREADY LOOKED AT THE FISH IN TWO ALBERTSON STORES IN THE AREA AND FOUND THE SAME PRODUCT THAT WAS IN EVERY OTHER ALBERTSON STORE FROM CALIFORNIA TO FLORIDA. FISH THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY FROZEN,IMPORTED AND TREATED WITH DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE GAS TO PRESERVE AND MASK ITS TRUE QUALITY. THIS ADULTERATED RED APPEARANCE WAS THE SAME MISREPRESENTATION ABOUT THE FRESHNESS I HAD HEARD FOR THREE YEARS IN ALBERTSON AND OTHER STORES. WE LEFT AND MADE UP PICKET SIGNS AND GATHERED A GROUP OF WOMEN WHO WERE MAD AND WANTED TO PICKET AND INFORM THE PUBLIC OF THISFRAUD AND POTENTIAL HEALTH RISK. WE WENT TO MEET ALBERTSONS DISTRICT REPRESENTITIVE, BOB CARNABY AND EXPLAINED OUR FEELINGS AND INTENT. HE SAID HE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND NOW THAT HE KNEW, HE WOULD HAVE IT REMOVED FROM ALL OF HIS STORES AND NOTIFY THE CORPORATE OFFICE. HE FURTHER SAID IF WE WAITED 10 MINUTES HE WOULD SHOW US A COPY OF HIS URGENT DIRECTIVE REGARDING THE REMOVAL OF ALL FROZEN, IMPORTED AND GASSED TUNA. HE ALSO WOULD SEE TO IT THAT IT WAS NEVER SOLD AS FRESH AGAIN OR EVEN SOLD AT ALL, NOW THAT HE KNEW HOW THE FISH WAS PROCCESSED.

SEE THE ATTACHED DIRECTIVE AND THE PICTURES WE TOOK WITH ABERTSONS STATEMENT TWO (2) DAYS AFTER WE LEFT TOWN WE FOUND OUTTHEY ALL STARTED SELLING IT AGAIN THE SAME WAY.

I LEFT TOWN FEELING WE HAD HELPED THE SITUATION AND HE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE TRUE QUALITY OF THIS PRODUCT WAS INVISIBLE AFTER BEING TREATED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE GAS. I WAS INFORMED TWO DAYS LATER THAT THEY PUT IT ALL BAK ON THE SHELVES AS SOON AS WE LEFT. THEY CONTINUE TO THIS DAY TO SELL THIS ADULTERATED PRODUCT IN THOUSANDS OF STORES THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.
